This month Around the Dog World is a little different to what we are used to seeing. Just two groups but across two shows and in different counties. Tune in at 8pm on Horse & Country TV (Sky 253) or visit a day later to watch.

Last month saw three championship shows across one weekend and our cameras caught the very best of the action at two of them, Houndshow and National Gundog.

From both shows there is extensive highlights from the Best in Show ring as well as glimpses at Best Puppies and Best Veteran from the group shows. And at each show it was undisputed group experts who were making the final decision in the main rings, with Swedish born and US resident Bo Bengtson taking control of the Hounds and Gundogs were in the hands of Frank Kane.

With such a focus on both groups we get to take a detailed look at a handful of breeds in each Hounds and Gundogs. Taking center stage first is show-off in the Hound group, the Afghan with Roberta Hall followed by closer examination of the clean outline of the Whippet with the show’s Best in Show judge Bo Bengtson.

When the show turns to the Gundogs it is a strictly European affair with two breeds who have hit the headlines in recent weeks and years. The first Bracco Italiano to win more than one group, and since filming a Best in Show, Peti and his handler Nicola Maddox stop to talk about the ‘elastic’ Italians. And from Italy we nip across the Mediterranean to take-in the effervescence and excitement of the Spanish Water Dog at the home of Valentisimo with Nigel Eggington.

On top of all of that are exclusive interviews with the weekend’s big winners and judges.

And a day after the latest ATDW premiers you can find more from with the cameras back out at City of Birmingham. Keep your eyes peeled as the groups and Best in Show videos will be online throughout the weekend.

It should be about all gundogs not just two of them
